Dear Brooks Families,

Wow! We have a touch of Autumn in the air! I love this time of year— cooler temperatures and college football! Can’t beat it!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Curriculum Night Save the Date
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, September 20 from 6:00-7:35 pm. Each teacher will give a short presentation regarding your child’s day, the curriculum and technology integration. The format and structure of this evening is for parents only. Children should not attend. Thank you for booking your babysitter early!

Thank you Volunteers!
Thank you to our volunteers who have and continue to support our fall benchmarking process. Your time and commitment is appreciated. In the last month, we have had over 160 volunteer slots offered at Brooks! We welcome and appreciate your participation in your child’s day! Be watching for our HELP WANTED emails!

Academically Talented Parent Night
Earlier this month, you received information about the qualification process and timelines for our academically talented programs. Each year, we identify students for a myriad of academic programs that support student needs. Each of these programs has a specific qualification process and criteria. On Wednesday, September 26 at 6:30 pm, Brooks will host a parent information night on how school assessment data is used to identify students for the following programs:

Math Acceleration (starting in grade 3)
Project Arrow (gifted program, also starting in grade 3).

If you are interested in learning more about the guidelines for these programs, please complete the RSVP below.

Brooks/Granger Crosswalk
Thank you to all our families who have adhered to the change/lack of parking in the Granger parking lot at arrival and dismissal. We now ask that you not drop your child off in the street or make a U-Turn in the Granger lot to drop off your children. These practices create safety concerns for our students. If you are picking up or dropping off your children, please use the car drop off and pick up line on the north end of the building. While the line is long, our outstanding supervision crew gets cars in and out quickly. Thank you for putting safety before convenience.

SAFETY Training
On Wednesday, September 12, our staff will use our “late start” professional development time (8:00-9:00 a.m.) to participate in district safety training. This training will include our entire staff, including the office secretaries. If you call the office and can’t reach anyone, please call back or leave a message and we will immediately return your call. Thank you for your understanding and support of our continued learning in the area of best practices in student/staff safety.

PAWS for Tales
Our partnership with the Naperville Humane Society and the PAWS for Tales program will continue on Fridays starting at the end of September. This wildly successful program allows our students to read to therapy/rescue dogs. In order to participate, your child must have a release on file. Please fill out the attached Google Form for each Brooks Tiger in your family to grant permission to participate.
