Principal's Message 9/30/18
September 30, 2018
Dear Brooks Families,
What a wonderful community activity we had this morning with the Granger/Brooks Roarin 5K. Thank you to Mr. Mark Lobos for being instrumental in organizing this event. This event promotes good health and fitness and camaraderie within our community. Money raised from the event goes back to the Brooks and Granger PTA. Thank you to all our families who came out this morning and supported this fabulous event!
We have been promoting fundraising event for Brooks on 10/3/18 at Chick-Fil-A by the Fox Valley Mall! Proceeds from every meal purchased on the evening of 10/3/18 will go to support the Brooks Elementary PTA!
Reminder: When you place your food order to please mention that you are there for Gwendolyn Brooks! You can also bring the Chick-Fil-A flier sent home! If Gwendolyn Brooks is not mentioned, we will not get any fundraising back from our partnership with Chick-Fil-A. So please don’t forget when you are ordering your yummy food!

TEAM BROOKS - a team of staff members and Brooks parents will be running a 5K or half marathon to support the Indian Prairie Education Foundation on Sunday, October 21 at 7am. Half of our fundraising efforts come right back to Brooks School. Last year, we were able fund the wildly popular Tim Hanig Pro Kids Show, purchase a new rug for the music room and add multiple activities and resources to our Thinker/Maker space in the LMC. What we need YOU for, costs nothing! Please consider saving the date and coming out to support TEAM BROOKS. I can personally say that seeing a familiar face or hearing some cheers along the VERY LONG route makes all the difference in the world! YOU help us finish. As time gets closer, more specific information/locations will be provided. Thank you for considering SAVING THE DATE!
PAWS for Tales
Our partnership with the Naperville Humane Society and the PAWS for Tales program will continue on Fridays starting at the end of September. This wildly successful program allows our students to read to therapy/rescue dogs. In order to participate, your child must have a release on file. Please fill out the attached Google Form for each Brooks Tiger in your family to grant permission to participate.
Car Line Reminder:
If you use our car drop off and pick up line, I kindly ask you to review the important information listed below. These procedures are in place for the safety of our students.
All students MUST exit their car curbside. Exiting into the circle drive may result in your child being hit by a car that is exiting the drive. If you have a car seat on the passenger side, your child will need to climb over the car seat to exit the car. Exiting into traffic is not an option.
If you are dropping off or picking up your child in the northern parking lot (circle drive), you need to do so in the drop off/pick up line. Parking in the teacher lot, then walking across the circle is teaching your child that it’s ok to walk in between moving cars. I think we would all agree this is not a safe practice.
When you exit the car line onto Stonebridge Blvd, please make a right hand turn. Waiting to turn left backs up the car line and the traffic coming off of Indian Trail.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. We all need to put safety before convenience.
