Reported by terri_russell@ipsd.org on 2/9/20

Dear Brooks Families,

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! It’s hard to believe we are well into February and with that, comes planning for next year. Please review the information about incoming Kindergartners for next year.

MUST READ

2020-2021 Kindergarten Information
If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2020, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.
You are invited and encouraged to attend a Kindergarten Parent Preview Night on March 11th at 6:30 PM. At this meeting, we will provide a detailed look at what the kindergarten experience will offer.

Please click on the link below to complete the Kindergarten Information Sheet. Please complete by February 28, 2020. This form will help us start planning kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming school year. This link is also found on the Brooks homepage at brooks.ipsd.org

February Conferences
Spring Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 27 from 1:00-8:00pm. This is NOT an attendance day for students. This week, you will be notified if a conference is being requested. If a conference is not being requested, but you would like one, please contact your child’s teacher directly. Thank you.

REMINDERS

Celebrating our Diversity
Brooks is a diverse and interesting place full of many different languages and cultures. In an effort to celebrate our differences, we are inviting students to welcome one another on the morning announcements in their home language. All students who participate will be asked to introduce themselves and say (in the home language):

"Good Morning Brooks Tigers. Let's make it a great day!"

If your oldest or only child is interested in participating, please fill out the attached survey so that we can begin to schedule the morning welcomes at:

Furry Fridays
Brooks Elementary is excited to continue Furry Fridays in partnership with the Naperville Humane Society and the PAWS for Tales Reading Program will begin at the end of September!

Each Friday a certified therapy dog will visit our school and students will be invited by their teacher to read to the dog! Our furry friends are Zoey, Cubbie and Wrigley and they will be at Brooks on alternating Fridays beginning September 20.

In order for your child to have the opportunity to participate, the Naperville Humane Society requires that you sign the release form linked below. Please just let your teacher know if your child should absolutely NOT participate (allergies, fear of dogs, etc).
