Principal's Message 5/3/20
Dear Brooks Families,
What a beautiful weekend! I hope you are able to spend time outside in the warmth and sunshine.
This week, we will recognize Teacher Appreciation Week. I want to publicly and personally thank every Brooks Staff member for their continued hard work and efforts on behalf of our students. Their skill and passion is always extraordinary. However, the “new way” of teaching has shed new light on their Super Hero powers. At a moment’s notice our staff has worked collaboratively to provide meaningful connections and learning activities for our children, in a remote way.. They have learned new resources and technology platforms to support student learning. They zoom with their teams multiple times per week to coordinate and collaborate for student needs. I could never be more proud of our staff than I am at this moment. THANK YOU, Brooks Staff. You are my Super Heroes!
Thank you for reviewing several reminders below!
Upcoming Calendar Dates:
May 13 - Teacher Plan Day for Remote Learning (no remote learning activities for students)
May 13 - Field Day (Please see below)
May 25 - No School Memorial Day
May 27 - Last Day of Remote Learning
Grade K-1 Learning Packets
Tentatively, the Kindergarten and First grade learning packets will be delivered by First Student bus drivers on Tuesday, May 5. Please look thoroughly (mailboxes, outside front door, under door mat) before you contact the school for a “missed stop”. Thank you in advance.
4th Quarter Grades-Reminder
In staying within state and district guidelines, elementary students will receive feedback on their activities, but NO GRADES will be given for the fourth quarter. I want to assure you that conversations have already begun regarding next fall. Fall assessment data will guide our path to planning. We recognize skill, concept and pacing expectations will need to be adjusted based on our current situation.
Field Day - May 13 - Reminder
As you know, “at school Field Day” has been cancelled. However, we are going to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Our Specials’ Team has rallied around the concept of providing an alternative. Mr. Persson will be providing fun family games that you can do at home on Wednesday, May 13 (remote learning planning day). You will have the opportunity to forward pictures if you choose. The specials’ team will compile the pictures into a schoolwide video. Stay tuned for more information!!
How will my student get his or her personal belongings back? - Reminder
A district task force is working on specific planning for students to get their personal belongings back before the end of the year (personal books, school supplies, pencil boxes, folders, etc) Currently, the tentative plan will be curbside pick up. As you can imagine, there are many logistical plans that need to be made for personal belongings, health office medications and yearbooks. As soon as final plans are made, you will be informed. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
MEALS AVAILABLE TO ALL:
Organic Life is offering curbside pick-up of grab and go breakfast and lunch at no cost for all students. The pickup locations are at each elementary school near door 1, between 11 am and 1 pm, Monday through Friday. If your family needs meals, let us know by completing this form.
This meal service is available to ALL of our families. You simply need to complete the form (attached to the link above). If it is more convenient for you to pick up your meal at another school location, you may do so. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about our meal service and I am happy to assist you!
