Dear Brooks Families,

Happy Mother’s Day! Tell your child he or she needs to dote on you all day long!

Despite remote learning and your children not physically being at school, there still are some very important reminders and information coming from the school and district. Thank you for reading below!

Upcoming Calendar Dates:
May 13 - Teacher Plan Day for Remote Learning (no remote learning activities for students)
May 13 - Field Day (Please see below)
May 20 or 21 - Distribution of Student Belongings (May 22 rain date)
May 25 - No School Memorial Day
May 27 - Last Day of Remote Learning

Student Belongings
Over the next week, classroom teachers will be at Brooks during scheduled times to collect student belongings left in the classrooms. On the teacher’s assigned day, he or she will post lessons, but will be unable to respond to emails. The sole responsibility on that day will be collecting your child’s supplies and closing down their classroom. Your teacher will inform you of that specific date. Belongings will be bagged, labeled and distributed on May 20 or 21 via curb-side pick up. At this time , you will pick up your child’s supplies, return any text or library books, return broken chromebooks or chromebooks in the event you are moving. (All other students will keep their chromebooks for the summer, including grade 5) Additionally, you will receive information from the nurse if you have medications to pick up. In order to maintain social distancing, additional items will not be collected this year and will be distributed in the fall (yearbooks, artwork, “specials” supplies, book fair books, etc). As soon as the final date is determined, you will get more specific information with the date and your assigned curb-side pick up time.

Registration for 20-21 (District Reminder)
All student registrations for the 2020-21 school year will be processed online. Parents can complete their child’s registration for next year starting June 8. An email will be sent to parents with details later in May. In the interim, you received a district email with directions on how to use Home Access to identify your “intent to return” next year. PLEASE complete this as soon as possible.

Field Day - May 13
Mr. Persson and the Specials’ Teachers have been working diligently to plan an “at home” Field Day. On May 11, you will receive information on the games and activities you can complete at home as a family! All activities can be completed with items you already have around the house! Be watching for an email on Monday!

4th Quarter Grades-Reminder
In staying within state and district guidelines, elementary students will receive feedback on their activities, but NO GRADES will be given for the fourth quarter. I want to assure you that conversations have already begun regarding next fall. Fall assessment data will guide our path to planning. We recognize skill, concept and pacing expectations will need to be adjusted based on our current situation.

MEALS AVAILABLE TO ALL:
Organic Life is offering curbside pick-up of grab and go breakfast and lunch at no cost for all students. The pickup locations are at each elementary school near door 1, between 11 am and 1 pm, Monday through Friday. If your family needs meals, let us know by completing this form.
This meal service is available to ALL of our families. You simply need to complete the form (attached to the link above). If it is more convenient for you to pick up your meal at another school location, you may do so.
