Principal's Message 5/24/20
Dear Brooks Families,
I hope you are enjoying this extended weekend! I want to thank all of our families who attended curbside pick up last week. 97% of the bags were picked up which is commendable. More importantly, it was fantastic to see our students and families before year’s end. It seemed surreal to see our staff, students and families in masks, but I know there were big smiles underneath. An incredible thank you goes to all of our teaching assistants and support staff members who worked hard to make the day run smoothly!!
Please help me congratulate our 5th grade students on their completion of elementary school and their transition to middle school. This week, our 5th grade teachers will recognize their students and give them a heartfelt send off. Thank you to Lynn Lengemann and Wendi Wipff for coordinating and organizing the student farewell gifts to be picked up in June (5th grade families received notification last week). See the note below regarding the 5th grade farewell school gift! It’s very exciting!
This will be the last “official” written Principal’s Message of the year. However, please be watching for an “Until Later” video coming out Thursday! Don’t miss it!!
Upcoming Calendar Dates:s
May 25 - No School Memorial Day
May 27 - Last Day of Remote Learning
Fifth Grade Farewell School Gift
This year, our fifth graders will be leaving behind a unique gift thanking Brooks for their elementary years. Remaining funds raised by our Fifth Grade Farewell Committee will go towards sprucing up a designated playground area highlighting a repurposed, existing bench found on our grounds and named as their new “Buddy Bench”. Our staff is very excited to use this revised walkway and garden area to help teach and promote friendship, kindness, compassion and empathy.
A special shout out goes to the Murphy family’s business, Murphy Landscaping and Design and to our very own Ms. Bushman for helping this vision unfold during this unprecedented school year. Please see the attachment for accompanying pictures.
Registration for 20-21 (District Reminder)
All student registrations for the 2020-21 school year will be processed online. Parents can complete their child’s registration for next year starting June 8. An email will be sent to parents with details, coming soon.
4th Quarter Grades-Reminder
In staying within state and district guidelines, elementary students will receive feedback on their activities, but NO GRADES will be given for the fourth quarter. I want to assure you that conversations have already begun regarding next fall. Fall assessment data will guide our path to planning. We recognize skill, concept and pacing expectations will need to be adjusted based on our current situation.
