Dear Brooks Families,

Thank you to all our families who were able to attend Open House. Hopefully, you got a small picture of the work your child does and the caring learning environment in which they come to each day. We thank you for your attendance and partnership in your child’s education.


Next Year’s Planning:

It is hard to believe, but planning is underway for next school year. Later in April, you will receive registration packets for next year. As this time gets closer, we will give you the exact date of distribution and the due date. If you already know you will not be returning to Brooks School next year, please call the school office at 630-375-3200. On April 18, you will receive a digital and backpack copy of the OPTIONAL parent input form regarding class placement for next year. This is a parent/guardian opportunity to describe the type of learning environment that is most conducive to your child’s learning. Stay tuned for this upcoming information!

April Reading Log from the LMC:

The Pizza Hut BOOK-IT has ended for the school year. Thank you to all who participated this year!

To continue our love of reading here at Brooks, we are including a reading log for the month of April. This is also a way to recommend books for our library. Please feel free to print the attached reading log for your child to complete at home. This is an optional activity for the month of April. April reading logs will be due by Wednesday, May 3rd.​—

Spring Party April 21:

Each student will participate in a PTA sponsored Spring Party. Volunteers may begin arriving at 1:45 and classroom doors will open at 2:00. You should have already received information from your lead room parent if you have been selected to volunteer at this party. This is a proactive reminder about party protocol. We welcome your attendance IF you have signed up through PTA. We will have your name badges pre-printed and ready for entrance. If you have not signed up for a party, you will not be allowed to enter. This is not meant to be exclusive of any of our families. When we consider class size, activity level and fire code requirements, we simply cannot accommodate more parents than have signed up. In addition, if you are volunteering, siblings are not allowed to attend. I hope this advanced information will allow you to plan accordingly.

Teachings will focus on stretching, running form and etiquette (using the Kids Run the Nation curriculum). Each meeting will include 20-25 minutes of running.

Earth Day 2017 – ‘Greening our school’ Markers and Crayons Recycling

Do you have markers that you no longer need or don’t work? Do you have crayons that you no longer need and you'd like to share with others? Here is an excellent opportunity for you to donate your crayons and recycle your markers. In honor of Earth Day 2017, the STEM Awareness Program is collecting used markers to be repurposed with Crayola’s ‘ColorCycle’ Program. In addition to that, we will be collecting used and broken crayons to be recycled and donated to Children’s Hospitals throughout the country through ‘The Crayon Initiative’ Program. Please help us in greening our school, helping a cause and protecting our planet. You may drop off any used markers and used and/or broken crayons in the designated boxes by the front display cases starting Monday, April 3rd, through Friday, April 21st, 2017. Thank you in advance for your support! Go Green!!

Save the Date - Sports Night

Join the Brooks community at a Kane County Cougars game on Friday, June 16, 2017!

This outing will be fun for all families! Cheer on the Brooks’ choir as they perform the National Anthem.

Tickets are $10.50/person and parking is $5/car in cash at the game.

Ticket flyers have just been sent home!
