Principal Message 10/15/17
Dear Brooks Families,
An incredible thank you to Penny Ose and all the volunteers who made the “80s Dance Party” such a huge success on Friday night. Our girls brought their favorite guys— Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles and Brothers to dance the night away! As the 80s music played, the best quote of the night was, “Mrs. Russell, what’s up with all the old people music?” Ahhh, yes! I’m getting old!
Parent Teacher Conference Sign Up - Please be looking for a separate email with reminders and directions.
Team Brooks ½ Marathon Spirit Squad - Come join the Brooks Spirit Squad at the Naperville Half Marathon on Sunday, October 22nd! All are welcome, just wear your Brooks colors and bring your best cheering to cheer on our Brooks Team and other IPEF Runners! The official Brooks Spirit Squad location is at the 10 mile marker (corner of Tupelo Drive/Olympus Drive). Come have some fun with your Brooks Community!

Message from the Nurse - As the fall weather and frequent weather changes are now upon us, I have been seeing an increased number of children with asthma-related symptoms. I understand that some of your children self-carry their asthma inhalers, but it is important that I have the completed documentation - the "Authorization for Self-Administration of Medication in School" form. In the event of an emergency, I need to know which students —may have inhalers in their backpacks, but not on them. I also need this information on file if a student is to take their medication on a field trip. The self-administration of asthma inhalers does not require a physician’s order if you can provide the student’s prescription label from the box, which must contain the name of the medication, the prescribed dosage, and the time and/or frequency of administration. Please send a photocopy of this instead of filling out the Dr's prescribing information if you have it, otherwise the Dr can fill this portion out. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Pop Tab Collection - Brooks School is now collecting pop tabs which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. The pop tabs are recycled, resulting in a monetary donation back to Ronald McDonald House. This incredible organization provides housing for children and families going through medical challenges. If you would like to save and donate your pop tabs, they may be dropped off in the school office. Thank you!
On the Radar/Reminders:
Transportation Changes: Each day, we dismiss nearly 800 children. In order to make sure your child is in the correct location, we ask for your help. If your child’s dismissal plan changes, please write a note to your child’s teacher. This information gets shared with the office. In addition, if your child rides a daycare van, you must contact the daycare as well. Daycare vans are often delayed as they wait for students who they think they should picked up. Thank you in advance.
—Furry Fridays - Brooks Elementary is excited to announce the beginning of Furry Fridays in partnership with the Naperville Humane Society and the PAWS for Tales Reading Program!
Each Friday a certified therapy dog will visit our school and students will be invited by their teacher to read to the dog! Our new friends are Zoey and Cubbie and they will be at Brooks on alternating Fridays beginning October 27. In order for your child to have the opportunity to participate, the Naperville Humane Society requires that you sign a release form which will be sent directly from your child’s teacher. Please just let your teacher know if your child should absolutely NOT participate (allergies, fear of dogs, etc)
Labeling Envelopes: When sending in money for various programs or events, PLEASE clearly label with your child’s first and last name, classroom teacher, and program (ex. lunch money, field trip, PTA, etc)
