Dear Brooks Families,

Congratulations and THANK YOU to Mrs. Stauffer for organizing and coordinating a wonderful Science Fair. What an amazing opportunity for our students to display their creativity and experience Science for themselves. Thank you to all our students and families who participated in this worthwhile event! A shout out also goes to Mrs. Leibold for coordinating dinner for our staff on Parent Teacher Conference Day. We LOVED having dinner together!!

Must Read:

During the months of March and April, our students in grades 3-5 will be participating in PARCC testing. The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. PARCC assesses the Illinois Learning— Standards Incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Listed below, you will find the Brooks tentative schedule for testing. We respectfully ask you to consider these dates when planning vacations and medical appointments. It’s important your child be in school barring illness. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Grades 4 and 5 - March 5-15
Grade 3 - March 15-23 AND April 2

OPEN HOUSE - Save the Date March 12
Come join us on Monday, March 12 from 6:00-7:30 for Brooks’ Open House. Families will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, talk with teachers and view the amazing work completed by our students.

If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2018, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year.
You are invited and encouraged to attend a Kindergarten Parent Preview Night on March 21 at 6:00 PM in the Gym. At this meeting, we will provide a detailed look at what the kindergarten experience will offer. You will also be provided with more details related to registration requirements and deadlines. This night is designed for parents and guardians only.
We need the Information Sheet on the attached page prior to orientation so that we can begin planning kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming school year. This Pre-Registration information will be used to form a kindergarten mailing list. Once on the mailing list, additional information will be mailed to eligible kindergarten parents. Information regarding registration will be available after April.

If you have any neighbors who do not presently have school-aged children, but will have an incoming kindergartner, please give them a copy of this form or ask them to call our office at 630-375-3200 so that we can send them this information. I look forward to meeting you at the Kindergarten Parent Preview Night.

Brooks Student Council will be hosting a “Make a Wish” fundraiser on May 17, 2018 at the Annual Fun Fair along with a tomato plant sale. All proceeds will be donated and gift cards will be purchased for families who have a family member at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. —
The Brooks School Student Council is looking for donations of ribbon and fabric. Donations will be cut into strips and given to those families and students that contribute to our fundraiser. Once purchased, the strips will be tied onto a rope. The “Make a Wish” garland will be displayed in Brooks Elementary School as a reminder to always persevere and never give up. Thank you for your consideration.

On the Radar/Reminders

If you pick your child up at the crosswalk and park in the Granger parking lot, please make sure you are in a parking space. Parking along the curb forces students to walk in between cars to get to their vehicles, creating a safety issue. Thank you for looking out for the well being of all our students.

We invite you to consider representing our school as part of Team IPEF in 2018. Click the following link to see who's already signed up to run for us!

It’s about more than just running. Team IPEF offers a unique opportunity to run for a cause and make a difference for your school. Last year 335 runner raised more than $178,000 to help enrich education in all District 204 schools.

Runners commit to raise a minimum of $204 for 204 as they train and complete the Naperville Half Marathon or 5K on Sunday, October 21, 2018. All charity runners receive a discount off race registration and get to choose a District 204 school they would like to represent. Visit— to learn more or sign-up.

Pop Tab Collection - Brooks School is now collecting pop tabs which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. The pop tabs are recycled, resulting in a monetary donation back to Ronald McDonald House. This incredible organization provides housing for children and families going through medical challenges. If you would like to save and donate your pop tabs, they may be dropped off in the school office. Thank you!
