1-1 Initiative and Help Wanted
Dear Brooks Families,
1:1 Devices to Enhance Instruction –
Over the course of several years, District 204 has embarked on a 1:1 initiative to provide Chromebook devices to students to support learning and instruction. Students at the middle school began the initiative during the 16-17 school year. Last year, the high school began this initiative, along with pilot opportunities at elementary. The 18-19 school year brings this incredible opportunity fully to elementary.
This past year, our 5th grade students piloted this program with great success. During the upcoming school year, students in grades 2-5 will use a Chromebook as a tool to support their learning. Our Kindergarten and first grade students will not be 1-1, however, will have access to chrome book utilization. Prior to students receiving the device in the fall, a handbook will be provided to our families in grades 2-5, along with a parent agreement. These forms will be available for you at Teacher Meet and Greet on August 16. If you are not able to attend Meet and Greet, your child will receive his/her information on the first day of school. Remember, children will not be allowed to bring their Chromebook home until the parent agreement is signed.
We are also in the process of investigating parent education for our families, so please stay tuned.
Thank you for your continued support of our technology integration and instructional strategies.
Welcome back! This year, all 2nd through 5th graders will be checking out a Chromebook. Before we can check these out to students, we need to put a protective cover on each Chromebook. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate any help you can give to get the covers on. The dates we have scheduled for unpacking Chromebooks and installing covers are August 2nd, August 6th, and August 8th. Please sign up for any times you can help using the link below.
Please let me know if you have any questions. And thank you for helping us get ready for another great school year!
