Reported by terri_russell@ipsd.org on 7/6/21

July, 2021

Dear Brooks Families,

Happy Summer! I hope this finds your family enjoying the simplicity of summer— time to read, play, swim, ride bikes, vacation or just relax! The purpose of this communication is to update you on our planning for the 2021-2022 school year. While there are many unknowns, there is some helpful information to share!

School Dates and Times:

ALL students will return to in-person learning for the 21-22 school year. School will return to regular hours 9:05-3:35 (with Wednesday starting at 9:15). Lunch will be provided as a “grab and go” and bus service will resume as usual. (further details will come)

Aug. 12 - New Family Self Guided Tour/Walk Through 9:00-11:00 a.m. (tentative)

Aug. 16 - Teacher Meet and Greet Outdoors 3:00-3:50 (very tentative)

Aug. 19 - First Day of Student Attendance (full day)

Kindergarten Orientation (further details coming)

Aug. 20 - First full day for Kindergarten students

Registration:

PLEASE register your student. Staffing our school is based on actual registrations, therefore, we are in jeopardy of losing teachers if our families do not register their children. Please use the information below to register your child as soon as possible. For those of you who have already completed the process, we thank you! If your family will be moving, please call the school office at 630-375-3200.

Online registration for new and returning students for the 2021-22 school year is now open. Parents and guardians will use ParentVue’s online registration portal to complete registration.

Registration information, including an FAQ, is available online.

Kindergarten Assessments:

Brooks will be offering 2 opportunities for incoming kindergarten students to participate in screening assessments. These assessments are meant to give us basic information on your child that helps us develop balanced class lists. There is no preparation needed. These optional assessments will be offered on two different days and you may attend at a time that suits your schedule. If you are unable to attend these assessments, please do not be concerned. All our Brooks students will have formal assessments in September. More specific information and protocols will be forthcoming!

Thursday, July 15 8:00-11:00

Wednesday, July 21 2:00-5:00

YMCA Safe and Sound Program:

The YMCA Safe and Sound before and after school care program will resume this year. For more information, you may call them directly at 630-585-2207.

Further Updates Coming:

District 204 continues to wait for guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education regarding mandated mitigation measures for the upcoming school year. This information will be shared with you as soon as it becomes available. We thank you for your continued support and patience.

Sincerely,

Terri Russell
